Game Recap: Stars Force Game Five

Parkhill, ON – Last night did not go as planned for the Bulldogs and a North Middlesex Game 4 win pushes the series a little further.

The Dogs received goal production from Nathan VanHooydonk (4:08, 2nd Period) and Noah Cameron (Nathan Lavender, Ben Landers, 6:22, PP, 2nd Period). Aiden Berry turned aside 43 of 46 shots.

Period 1: The loan goal of the initial frame was scored by Nick Bannister of the Stars at 17:44.

Period 2: At 4:08 of the middle frame, Nathan VanHooydonk notched his first goal of the playoffs. After some messy play in the slot, VanHooydonk would eventually emerge with the puck and quickly release a wrist-shot, short-side, which eluded the glove of Benjamin Gustafson in the North Middlesex goal.

Moments later, at 6:22, Noah Cameron (Nathan Lavender, Ben Landers) earned his third marker of the post-season via the power-play. With speed and momentum, Cameron would skate up the far-side wall and cut into the middle of the ice, put a sleek move on a North Middlesex penalty-killer, and deposit the biscuit high, glove-side, on an outstretched Gustafson.

Griffen Cann (14:49, PP) and Jake Van Arenthals (19:18) would reply for the home side and take a 3-2 lead into the second intermission.

Period 3: The final period ran scoreless despite both teams pushing for their own incentives. The Dogs were on the hunt for a game-tying-goal and the Stars were clinging onto their lead in the hopes of forcing a Game 5 in Mount Brydges on Monday evening. After the final twenty minutes of play, Game 5 was activated.
