President’s Message: March 16, 2025

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | MT. BRYDGES, ONTARIO

March 16th, 2025 will be a day I’ll never forget. Without a doubt, it was the scariest moment I’ve ever witnessed live in a hockey game. During a battle behind our net, two players battled and fell to the ice. Upon reviewing the play, it became clear that the opposing player, while getting up, accidentally stepped on our player, causing a serious injury. The looks on the fans’ faces made it clear: the situation was critical.

I want to acknowledge everyone who played a role during this crisis, and I’m sure there were many more involved. From our trainer, who immediately rushed to our player at the bench, began treatment, and urgently called for a 911 call—many others did the same. To the Flyers’ trainer, who sprinted across the ice to help. To the two paramedics, who leaped over the stair rails to offer their assistance. To the nurses who sprang into action. To the Flyers’ GM, who anxiously paced outside our room, showing great concern. To the ambulance crew, who arrived almost instantly. To the parents who offered help in any way they could. To the league convener, who showed compassion and support. To the Director of Petrolia Flyers Hockey Operations, who continuously checked for updates. And finally, to the staff and management of the Mt. Brydges Bulldogs. All heroes!

My thoughts are with the family and hope for a speedy recovery.

On behalf of the Mt. Brydges Bulldogs, I offer my heartfelt thanks to all of you.
