Weekend Preview: Sailors and Spitfires

Mount Brydges, ON – The Bulldogs are on the road this weekend for two contests in Port Stanley and Aylmer.

Saturday, December 14 at Port Stanley Sailors (15-7-0-0-0-1, 3rd)

Arena and Time: Port Stanley Arena and Community Centre – 7:30PM
Last Meeting: Saturday, November 9 (4-2 L – Game Report)
Regular Season Record: Port Stanley 2-1 Mt. Brydges

Pre-Game Notes: The Bulldogs haven’t quite figured out how to master the Sailors so far this season. The lone victory for the Dogs against their weekend hosts came back in late September by way of a 5-3 final. Since then, the Sailors have sailed past the Bulldogs via two similar 4-2 outcomes. This past Tuesday, despite dominating in the shots department (68-18), the Sailors were beaten by the Lucan Irish via the shootout and are looking to get back into the win column. Currently, the Bulldogs sit one point back of the Sailors and are hoping to make the leap after sixty minutes on Saturday night. This Saturday marks a special night in Port Stanley as the team will be hosting their Annual Teddy Bear Toss event.

Sunday, December 15 at Aylmer Spitfires (7-15-1-0-0-0, 7th)

Arena and Time: East Elgin Community Centre – 2:45PM
Last Meeting: Sunday, December 8 (1-0 W – Game Report)
Regular Season Record: Mt. Brydges 3-1 Aylmer

Pre-Game Notes: The Dogs and Spits have already battled on four occasions this season. The home side clinched their lone victory over the Bulldogs back in the early days of the season by way of a 7-6 victory. Since that time, Mount Brydges have taken control of the season series by winning the next three contests (5-2, 5-0, 1-0). These two clubs will see each other again on the very last day of the 2024 portion of the schedule (Saturday, December 28 in Mt. Brydges). Prior to facing the Bulldogs on Sunday, the Spitfires will be in Exeter on Friday evening to tangle with the Hawks.
