Sunday, January 5 vs North Middlesex (7-2 W)
The Dogs and Stars headed into Sunday’s game tied at two games apiece over the course of the season series. At the end of sixty minutes, the Bulldogs emerged the victor by way of a 7-2 dismantling of the Stars.
The initial period did not start the way the home side would have liked. At 1:40 it was Lucas Desroches who gave the Stars an early lead. However, less than a minute later, Nolan Burnside (Logan Forster, 2:28) began his offensive explosion in this contest and brought the home side level. At 16:26, it was Burnside again who connected with Nolan Griffiths and Jack Uniac to ensure the Dogs were up by a tally at the end of twenty minutes.
Special teams execution was a theme for the Bulldogs in the second period. Nolan Griffiths (Aiden Berry, 2:00) scored his eighth goal of the season via the power-play. On the other side of the special teams column, Logan Forster (Noah Cameron, Jack Uniac, 4:49) earned his ninth contribution of the campaign via a short-handed marker. Jake Van Atenthals (10:14) would pull the Stars to within two goals, but that is as close as visitors would come in this one. Newcomer Tim Jozsa tossed in his second goal of the season from Logan Gianelli and Nolan Griffiths at 13:50 via the power-play. Nolan Burnside completed his hat-trick at 14:49. His right-hand man, Logan Forster, earned the lone assist on the goal.
In the third period, Callum Statchuk (Tyler Taplay, Nathan Solomon) notched his fourth goal of the season on the power-play at 16:56 to complete all the scoring in this one from the Tri-Township Arena.
With the victory, the Bulldogs gain the advantage in the season series, 3-2. These two rivals will joust one last time on Saturday, February 15 in Parkhill.
