Weekend Review: Maximum Points Earned by Bulldogs

Mount Brydges, ON – The Bulldogs earned a valuable four points this past weekend. On Friday evening, the Dogs travelled to Aylmer and slid by their hosts by way of a 2-1 final score. The following night, the Dogs dismissed their Highway 81 rivals in the North Middlesex Stars in a 5-3 victory.

Friday, December 12 at Aylmer Spitfires (Attendance: 98) – Game Report

The Dogs travelled to Aylmer on Friday evening to challenge the greatly improved Spitfires. By a slim margin, the Dogs prevailed 2-1.

After a scoreless first period, Tim Jozsa nudged the Bulldogs ahead early in the second period. Former Bulldog, Cooper Kelly, levelled the score at 1:06 of the third period. Just over eight minutes later on the powerplay, Ben Funston contributed his tenth goal of the season and the eventual game-winning-goal.

Logan Griffiths made 34 saves (on 35 shots) to earn his eighth win of the season.


Saturday, December 13 vs North Middlesex Stars (Attendance: 155) – Game Report

It was a combination of timely scoring and goaltending heroics which propelled the Bulldogs to a commanding lead against the Stars. The team would hold on and dismiss their Highway 81 rival by a 5-3 final on Teddy Bear Toss Night at the Tri-Township Arena.

It took twenty-one seconds for the teddy bears to be tossed on Saturday night as JJ Fogarty fired home his seventeenth goal of the campaign. Just over nine minutes later, Fogarty added his second goal of the game to round out the first period scoring.

Two more Bulldogs goals were added the scoresheet as both Logan Forster (1:54) and Ben Funston (2:51) punched the team ahead by a 4-0 margin in the middle frame.

The Stars pushed back through Anthony Tudino (3:47) to open the scoring in the final period. Logan Forster grabbed his second goal of the night to put the Dogs back up by three. Jake Van Arenthals and Denis Beley-Camara made late shouts for the Stars, but time was not on their side.

Earning his second win in as many nights and his ninth win of the season was Logan Griffiths. The Bulldogs goalie made 34 saves on the evening.


Next Weekend

The Bulldogs enter the final weekend of action before the holiday break. The team will enjoy two home games on Friday night against the Lucan Irish and on Saturday night against the Thamesford Trojans.
